Even
if most of the forts in Himachal have now been changed
into heritage hotels, still they are
very much part of the ancient history and past glories of the state.
Arki Fort, Kuthar Fort
and Sujanpur Fort at Kangra,
merits a visit for their exquisite and fine architecture. One of the major
forts of the state is the Kangra Fort. Now in its ruins one can visit this
fort for its historical presence that still dominate the
Kangra Valley. Worth visiting is a
five-storeyed old fort of Kamru, just 2-km
from Sangla Valley. Resting on a
platform this fort once belonged to the rulers of the erstwhile Bushehr
State. Others forts that also deserve a visit are Nurpur Fort and Gondla
Fort in district Lahaul &
Spiti.
