Himachal
is a state of hilly terrains and a best hide out from the bristling heat
of the summers. Firstly, comes the mother of all Hill Station, enclosed in
a mountainous bliss and surrounded by spectacular scenery, the capital
city of Shimla. Situated northeast of Shimla, the village of Sarahan, is
site not to be missed for its famous Bhima Kali Temple, set against the
breathtaking backdrop of soaring peaks. Kalpa is worth a visit for its
magnificent Kinner-Kailash peak, a sacred summit for the pilgrims. Do not
forget to visit the unspoilt region of the Baspa Valley, popularly known
as Sangla, with picturesque village well worth a detour. Chitkul is
located 25-km from Sangla and marks the start of the upper valley with
several snow peaks close by. The valley of Chamba harbours uniquely styled
Hindu temples in Bharmour and Chamba. Close to Chamba is Dalhousie, still
enticing visitors with its cool tree-clad heights and sublime views. Pay a
visit to the town of Mandi, famous for its natural splendour and lush tea
gardens. Do not forget to visit the "little Lahsa", Dharamsala,
home of Dalai Lama.
