Rewalsar
is one of the prominent Buddhist centres in the hills of Himachal
and the monastery enshrines an image of Buddhist teacher 'Padmasambhava'.
Kanum is the place located on the Hindustan-Tibet road and has seven
Buddhist monasteries and temples of various dimensions. The principal
monastery in Kanum is Lundup Gainful Gompha or Kachele-Khang. Pooh,
situated beyond Kanum is another great Buddhist centre having a Drug-pa
monastery. Ki Monastery
is a picturesque pile of buildings, which look like a hill fortress from a
distance and can be approached from Kaza.
Tabo is the largest
monastic complex of Spiti and
Dhankar Monastery is
the traditional capital of Spiti with
a natural lake situated at 13,500ft as its main attraction.
