A path winds further up above the road from the
Nicholas Roerich Gallery, through
the forest for around 100m to Uruswati Himalayan Folk Art Museum set among
the large deodar trees of the forty acre Roerich estate.
Founded by Madame Nicholas Roerich in 1928, the museum features a
collection of local folk art, costumes, a few Roerich's paintings, several
paintings by its Russian followers and a gallery of Russian folk art.
A counter sells postcards and a small selection of his books related to
his work. Although the museum is only of limited interest, the walk up to
it is worth while for the tranquil setting.
