Rises from lake Mansarovar in Tibet near the southern slopes
of the Kailash range, It enters Himachal Pradesh at
Shipki, 6,608m and flows through Kinaour,
Shimla ,
Kullu ,
Mandi,
Solan and Bilaspur
district and enters the plains at Bhakra.
Here, one of the world's largest masonary dams blocks the river, creating
the immense Govind Sagar Lake. It covers about 320-kms in Himachal
Pradesh.
