Wildlife in Himachal PradeshOn top of the Kufri Hills, 16-kms from Shimla, Himachal's Forest Department has created a Nature Park named the Himalayan Nature Park. It is famous as the natural habitat of the Himalayan Musk deer. The Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary at Khajjiar is rewarding experience for wildlife enthusiasts as it has got some rare species of animals such as ibex, deer, beers and leopards protected within its area. The Manali Sanctuary is located in district Kullu's nearest town Manali and covers an area of 31.80-sq-km. The fauna preserved by this century includes ibex, monal, musk deer, brown beer and snow leopards. Other sanctuaries that are a must visit in the state are Bandali Sanctuary, Chail Sanctuary, Govind Sagar Sanctuary and the Great Himalayan National Park.
